We are the faith community of Saint Thomas Aquinas in Derry, New Hampshire, dedicated to continuing the mission of Jesus Christ in the Roman Catholic tradition. We proclaim the Good News, using our time, talent and treasure to reach the new, the wandering, the poor and the unloved. United in God, we are committed to growth in faith through worship, spirituality, outreach, education, and fellowship. Empowered by the Holy Spirit and nourished by Word and Eucharist, we seek a deeper, more personal relationship with Jesus Christ as we passionately share Christ's love with all people.

THESE THREE?

Dear Brothers and Sisters, the Gospel passage according to St. Mark this weekend we hear Jesus say to the synagogue official and to us ?Fear is useless. What is needed is trust?. And yet we live so much of our lives in fear. We profess to be Christians to be Catholics and as such we believe in God`s Divine Providence, that God will always take care of us if we are striving to live by His law as given to us by His Holy Catholic Church. And there`s the problem! We want what we want not what we need and without any conditions or expectations from God. Today`s Gospel story tells us about a woman who waited in faith until the right moment for God to express His love and concern for her. She conquered her fears and did what she had to do in hope and trust. We too are challenged to go forward in hope and trust. We too must do what is right even when so many forces in the world tell us that we are wrong. ?Fear is useless. What is needed is trust?;; deciding for a religious vocation, standing outside an abortion mill, declaring your belief in traditional marriage, tithing? yes many things in our holy religion demand faith, hope and trust. If only we would be like that woman in today`s Gospel who patiently waited and courageously acted. Pray for me as I pray for you to follow Christ.

Love, Fr. Bruce
